List your troupe on the French reenactment directory

The Annuaire de la Reconstitution Historique is the directory of living history in France: 512 reenactment groups, 24 HEMA clubs and 68 craftsmen and professionals, with an agenda of events. Organizers of medieval fairs, historical festivals and commemorations use it to find the troupes they invite, and they welcome troupes from abroad.

  • Free No fee, no advertising. The site is run by reenactors, for reenactors.
  • Organizers write to you Through the site, without seeing your email address. Their messages reach you by email, and you answer from the site.
  • In your languages Your page shows the languages you can be contacted in, so that organizers know they can write to you in English, German, Spanish or Italian.

How it goes

The forms are in French. This is what each step asks for; once you have come through this page, an English help shows on them too.

  1. Create an account. « Adresse de courriel » is your email, « Nom affiché » the name others will see, for instance your troupe's. Untick « Recevoir la newsletter » if you do not read French, then click « Créer un nouveau compte ».
  2. Confirm your email. You receive a mail in French, « Bienvenue sur l’Annuaire de la Reconstitution Historique ». Its link, « Choisir mon mot de passe », works once within 24 hours: choose your password (« Mot de passe ») and save (« Enregistrer »).
  3. Add your troupe. On your dashboard (« Tableau de bord »), « Ajouter ma troupe » opens the form: the name (« Nom de la troupe »), the kind (« Association » for a reenactment group, « AMHE » for a HEMA club, « Vendeur / Marchand » for a craftsman or a merchant, « Professionnel »), a description, in English if you like, and the periods (« Périodes »).
  4. Your contact details. In « Coordonnées », choose your country (« Pays ») and town, add your website and social networks, and tick your languages in « Langues de contact ».
  5. Ask for publication. At the bottom of the form, click « Demander la publication ». Until then your page is a draft only you can see (« Enregistrer le brouillon » keeps it for later). A moderator reads it, and it goes online.

Then

Organizers find you by period and by place. You can also look for events yourself in the agenda, and see the troupes already listed.
